Mohammed Bukar Ngamdu

Professor Mohammed Bukar Ngamdu is a distinguished scholar in Geography and Environmental Management. Born in Maiduguri, Borno State, he currently serves as the Director of Academic Planning and the Director of the Center for Environmental and Geographical Research at Yobe State University, Damaturu. He rose through the academic ranks from Graduate Assistant to Professor, reflecting his dedication to teaching, research, and service.
He has held numerous leadership roles, including Member of the Yobe State University Governing Council, Member of the University Senate, Head of the Department of Geography, Departmental Examination Officer, Departmental Postgraduate Coordinator, Faculty Examination Officer, and Director of the School of Pre-Degree Studies.
He holds a B.Sc. in Geography (University of Maiduguri), a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (University of Maiduguri), an M.Sc. in Climate Change & Development (University of Sussex, England), an M.Sc. in Environmental Management (University of Maiduguri), a Master of Public Administration (Yobe State University), a Master in Policy and Strategic Studies (Yobe State University), and a Ph.D. in Geography (University of Bakht Alruda, Sudan).
Professor Ngamdu has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications, supervised more than 100 undergraduate projects and 12 M.Sc. theses, and is currently supervising ongoing Ph.D. research projects. He continues to mentor postgraduate students and support advanced scholarship. He has also provided consultancy services for UNDP, AfDB, and World Bank projects.
He has attended and presented numerous conferences, both locally and internationally, across ten countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa, contributing to global academic dialogue and strengthening international research collaboration.
He is an active member of professional bodies, including the Association of Nigerian Geographers, the Nigerian Environmental Society, and the Environmental Management Association of Nigeria. He currently serves as the Assistant Secretary General of the Committee of Directors of Academic Planning of Nigerian Universities (CODAPNU).
